More and more traditional audio visual cabling is becoming unsuitable suitable for the projects coming across our table. If we consider purely the infrastructure cabling costs as a start, the cost of cabling using our client's existing CAT 5 network is so much more cost effective compared to coaxial. CAT 5 costs approximately £40 for 1000ft as opposed to approximately £1000 for traditional RGBHV cable of a reasonable quality.
Using CAT 5 is easy to terminate, easy to run through conduit, and provides a compact discrete cable solution. We can also send a multitude of signals down a single CAT 5 (composite, audio, RS232, IR, PC UXGA) using any of the vendors' products we represent here at Integral AV.
In terms of performance, we can send high resolution UXGA upto 1500ft with minimal degregation or signal loss.
So now is the time to join the mainstream and start using CAT 5 and UTP products in your AV solution just like Instarmac did. Take a look at their system in the case study below.
